LANDIKOTAL: A trailer truck and an armour vehicle of US army for Afghanistan were burnt when an explosive device went off at Landikotal bypass road on Pak-Afghan highway in Landikotal subdivision of Khyber agency, Khasadar sources said on Monday.
The trailer truck (PT-0244) was carrying two US-made armour vehicles for Afghanistan based Nato forces hit by a roadside bomb which was planted on the bypass road. The trailer caught fire after the blast which also engulfed one of the armour vehicles on it, sources said. Soon after the blast Landikotal firefighters rushed to the site and extinguished the fire. However, they could only save on vehicle one the trailer, sources said. The incident also suffered traffic on the road for three hours. Dozens of loaded trucks and oil tankers beside the passengers’ coaches had been parked on the roadsides.
Claiming the responsibility for the attack Abdullah ezam group spokesman, Abu,Mas’ab, threatened the truckers and oil suppliers to stop the US supplies to Afghanistan. He said through his telephone call from undisclosed location that those who were found involved in the Nato supply or supporting and providing security to it would not be tolerated.
