Federal minister wants open Torkham border for free trade with Afghanistan

LANDIKOTAL: Federal inister for religiouse affairs and interfaith harmony doctor Noorul Haq Qadri Saturday said that
like Kartarpur border he would be happy to open Torkham border for free trade and business activities with Afghanistan and central asian countries.

The federal minister Dr Noorul Haq Qadri was speaking to mediamen here in Landikotal after attending a public gathering in Khyber Nekikhel area of Landikotal tehsil.

The minister appreciated the PTI,led goverment for opening Kartarpur border with India and wished to open Torkham border for free trade and business activities with Afghanistan and other neighboring states.

He said Fata has been constitutionally mergered into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and would take time to physically integrate all its departments with provincial governing setup.He said
work on the erstwhile Fata districts development was in pipeline and would take momentum gradually.

"Some of the tribal districts departments including education and health are already merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while the rest would take some time to integrate", said Qadri. He added that  those who talk about Fata and FCR is wasting their time as it became an out dated debate.
However, he said being a tribal and member of parliament he was working to adjust tribal culture and tradition into the new setup.
To a question,Noorul Haq Qadri said they would not deprive anyone including Khasadars and levies force personnel from their jobs. Qadri said he was in contact with the prime minister and other concern departments to secure Khasadars' and levies jobs.
Quoting the Prime Minister Imran Khan the federal minister said they would create more jobs for erstwhile Fata residents rather to snatch their services they were doing for the government.

Regarding National Financial Commission Award(NFC)dr Noorul Haq Qadri said all province except Sundh were agreed to give  Fata districts its share in NFC. He said the federal government team was in a negotiating process with the Sindh goverment to smoothly resolve the  issue with them. He said people in tribal districts would soon get its due share in NFC.

Qadri said Fata people especially residents in Landikotal rendered sacrifices in means of lossing jobs and businesses in the past few years and should be given best possible trade opportunities via Torkham border.

Regarding the opening of Kartarpur opening border the federal minister said he would be happy to open Torkham border for free trade and transportation activities with Afghanistan and central asian countries.
