LANDIKOTAL: At least three persons including two minor girls and a peace volunteer were killed and two other injured in different incidents took place in Bazaar Zakhakhel in Landikotal tehsil on Monday.
The assistant commisioner of Landikotal subdivision Niaz Muhammad told The News that two groups of Zakhakhel peace committee led by commander Qayyum and Adnan Khan came face to face over petty issue in Jabori Waly area of Bazaar Zakhakhel. He said several Amn committee volunteers were beating the heat in a water stream in Jabori Waly locality in Bazaar Zakhakhel when two of the grouos gunmen exchanged harsh words our a petty issue. Both sides exchanged gun fire on each each other. He said three persons inldentified as Zahir Jan,Gul Rahim and Hazrat Afridi were injured. The injured were rushed to near by health facility. It was learnt that the gun fighting using automatic weapons was continued for two hours.
Tehsildar Bazaar Zakhakhel Muhammad Ali told this scrube by phone that levies subedar Swalzar Khan afridi and his party reached to Bazaar Zakhel and negotiating both side to avoid further mishap.
However,Independent sources told this scribe that one Hazrat was killed on the spot,however local administration did not confirmed.
Soon after the incident Khasadars and levies force personnel along with officials reached to the site and controlled the situation.
Meanwhile, two minor girls identified as Khatima,3 and Lubna,4 drowned into a water tank in Bazaar Zakhel. Both the girls had died before they could be rescued from the water tank,local sources said.
