LANDIKOTAL: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Engineer Iqbal
Zafar Jhagra on Thursday inaugurated the first-ever Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum
School and college in Bara subdivision in Khyber Agency.
A ceremony was arranged which was attended by Pakistan Army
and civil administration officials, Fata parliamentarians,Additional Chief
Secretary Fata, political Agent of Khyber Agency and a large number of local
elders.
The governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra was the chief guest who
inaugurated the school marking a mile stone in the Fata history establishing
first of its kind modern schools where all facilities would be available for
students.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that more than
hundred schools had been destroyed in the last two decades militancy in Bara.
He said the school has been affiliated with the famous Lawrence college in
Murree which was the name of quality of education.
The governor said they hope that well-qualified staff would
be hired for the school and they hope that every student of this institution
would follow the footsteps of the legend Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum. He added
that the school will go a long way to educate the children of Khyber Agency
with etiquettes, quality of education and moral sciences. He said the school would accommodate students
from grade-1 to higher secondary level in both arts and science subjects.
Political agent Khalid Mehmood thanked the philanthropists
who extended their economical support for the establishment of such a modern
type of educational institution in a place where people feared to send their
children to schools in the past. He said a board of governors headed by the
Khyber Pakhunkhwa governor would lead the institution. He said the school would
set a new standard of education not only in Khyber Agency but other tribal
agencies would also raise demand for the same kind of schooling system in their
respective areas.
Meanwhile, the governor Jhagra awarded admission certificates
to some of the students who recently enrolled in the school. Parents and local
residents lauded the governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and political agent for
setting up a modern institution where their children would learn quality of
education.
