KHYBER AGENCY: At least three senior Afghan security official including Ningrahar province deputy governor were injured when their convoy was attacked with a roadside bomb blast in Basawal area,some 10 kilometers from Torkham border, Afghan officials sources said on Wednesday.
The sources said that newly appointed Ningrahar province of Afghanistan identified as Salim Khan Kandozai was on way to Torkham border to attend an official gathering when Afghan Taliban attacked his convey in Basawal area of Mohmandara district,some ten kilometers from Torkham border.
However, Salim Khan Kandozai was remain unhurt in the attacked while his Deputy governor Hanif Gardiwal, provincial police chief Shehzaad and two other officials,whose names could not be ascertained, were injured in the attack.An armored Personnel Carrier(APC) was also destroyed in the blast, the sources said.
Afghan Tehrek-e-Taliban Mulvi Abdul Haleem group claimed responsibility of the attack.
The injured persons were shifted to Jalalabad for medical treatment where they were stated in stable health condition.
Amid tight security at the Torkham border town,the Ningrahar governor later visited the Afghan side of the Torkham and attended the official meeting. Security was at red-alert while Afghan border security forces had closed the Torkham border for around 30 minutes during the governor visit,the sources said
