FATA: Islamic Relief International distributed a
package of foods and non-food items among the 400 displaced families of
Loey Shalman on Saturday.

Disaster Management Authority,Islamic Relief International and
Landikotal administration officials jointly went to the far-flung Loey
Shalman border area where they distributed food and non-food items among
the displaced families.
Thousands of Loey
Shalman residents including women and children had been displaced from
various border villages of Pakistan due to repeated mortar shelling and
gunfiring from Afghanistan side of the border that hit their homes in
Loey Shalman in the past few months.
Talking to this scribe FDMA director Fata Zia Khan said that they in the first phase
distributed pulses,ghee, tents and kitchenware. He said that they have
collected data of the displaced families and would soon provide them
other necessary items and medicines in the coming days.Zia said they
were also considering to provide warm cloths and jackets to the
displaced persons due to severe winter ahead.
It
may be added here thousands of Shalman inhabitants left their homes
situated near the Pak-Afghan border after several people were injured of
mortar shelling carried out from Afghanistan.
