IGFC visits Torkham border

TORKHAM BORDER: The newly appointed Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Major General Muhammad Wasim Ashraf visited Landikotal army garrison and Torkham border on Wednesday.
Major General Muhammad Wasim Ashraf went to Torkham border where he met with the Afghan border authorities.The IGFC also met with the Afghan prominent tribes’ elders and discussed various issues including border safety and security. An official on the condition of anonymity told The News that the top ranking Pakistan army official assured the Afghan counterparts for every possible help and cooperation so that they could  further strengthen bilateral relations between the two Muslim nations. Torkham border was remained closed during the VVIP visit where extra security personnel were deployed. All the entry and exit points to Landikotal were handed over to the personnel of Khyber Rifles who thoroughly checking vehicles.
Assistant Political Agent of Landikotal Niaz Muhammad and Commandant Khyber Rifles Colonel Farrukh Humayyun were also present on the occasion.
