Tribal Journalists decide to sue daily Mashriq for false news against them

KHYER AGENCY: Tribal Union of Journalists Khyber Agency chapter on Wednesday called an emergency meeting here in Landikotal press club in which they decide to take legal action against the reporter and editor of daily Mashriq for publishing false and baseless news against senior tribal journalists.

The meeting, chaired by senior journalists Sudhir Ahmad Afridi, was attended by a large number of senior and associate members of Tribal Union of Journalists from Khyber agency. Despite other matters, the meeting was focused on the unauthentic and baseless news published in daily Mashriq the other day. The journalists strongly condemned one sided news story in which the daily Mashriq reporter did not fulfilled news formalities needed for an accurate news story.

speaking on the occasion, Sudhir Ahmad Afridi,Sardar Wali,Aminul Haq and Saadullah said that a large number of government servants in Pakistan were doing journalism as freelancers. They said few Fata freelance journalists were also were also doing journalism to serve their people. The teachers-cum-journalists said  that they were performing their duty very honestly and work hard in their respective schools.
Sudhir said it was not the right of Peshawar based journalists to write and defame their own colleagues in Fata. He said they also knew that most of renowned journalists in Islamabad and Peshawar were the government servants but they also do job as journalists.
Shudhir lamented over the published news of Marshirq and said that the reporter did not dig the story but published a name of ex-teacher Kamal Khan Shinwari who died three years ago. He said  published report in daily Mashriq had also carry Kamal Shinwari name that he was not performing his duty.
The meeting also decided to file a case defamation against daily Mashirq in Peshawar high court asking to find a reason to prove their report accurate.

All the tribal journalists demanded of the journalists' bodies in Pakistan and other senior colleagues to take strict action against the reporter and news editor at daily Mashriq.
The meeting accused political agent of Khyber Agency Khalid Mehmood and other administration officials for paying a handsome amount of money to the Mashriq editor and reporter so that he could to put pressure on the Khyber agency based journalists so that their corruption could be curtailed.
The Khyber Agency journalists threatened that if Mashriq newspaper not take its report back or not publish news in their favor within two days they would be compelled to file a case against the reporter and news editor in Peshawar high court. They also called protest against the accused reporter and news editor at the front of daily Mashriq Peshawar office if their demand was not addressed within two days.
