PA releases 19 prisoners from Jamrud lockup

KHYBER AGENCY(FATA): The Khyber Agency political agent paid visit of Jamrud lock up and ordered the release of several detained persons on the spot, official said on Friday.

Assistant Political Agent of Jamrud, Ziaur Rehman Marwat told The News that Political agent Khalid Mehmood paid a surprise visit to Jamrud lockup and asked about the living condition of the inmates. He said Khalid Mehood went through all residential compounds and checked facilities available for detainees in the Jamrud jail.

Ziarur Rehaman said political agent heard several cases inside the lock up and released 19 detainees on the spot. He said those released were arrested in cases of petty crimes.

The political agent directed the officials concerned to insured clean drinking water and hygienic foods for the jail inmates.

Earlier, PA Khyber along with the Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO)officials visited Jamrud grid station and checked the ongoing construction work. He trashed the contractors for their slow pace of  work and asked them to expedite the construction work.

Talking to The News Political Agent Khalid Mehmood said that he would not tolerate ignorance of the government officials and the contractors to further delay the construction work on Jamrud grid station. He said they want to complete the grid station soon so that they could provide uninterrupted electricity supply to the Khyber Agency residents.

To a question, Khalid Mehmood said he issued strict directives to the Jamrud,Bara and Landikotal assistant political agents and political tehsidars to dispense justice without being delayed. He said  have given their verdicts over the several hundred civil and criminal cases have so far in all three tehsils of Khyber Agency in the last few months.

Assistant Political Agent Jamrud, Ziaur Rehman Marwat and senior political Muharrer Bismillah Khan Kokikhel were also accompanied the political agent during his visit to Jamrud.
