KHYBER AGENCY: A security man was killed while two
others sustained bullet injuries when several taliban equipped with
sophisticated weapons attacked check post in Jamrud Khyber Agency,one of
the FATA tribal region shares border with Afghanistan, official sources
said.
They said that around 7 pm, from two sides several rockets were fired followed by indiscriminate firing on Takhta Baig check post. The gun fire was continued for several minutes. The security forces and Tribal Police(Khasadars) also returned the fire and repulsed the attack.
An official said that as they heard bullets sound rushed to the spot and repulsed the attack. As a results, a Khasadar identified as Shahid Khan killed on the spot. Two Frontier Corps personnel also wounded in the attack.
The Khyber Agency administration officials said they imposed curfew in Khyber Agency on the areas along the Pak-Afghan highway from Jamrud to Landikotal. They said aim of the curfew was to conduct search and clearance operation while chasing those behind the attack and killing security man.
Dozens of suspected persons were arrested in the search operation conducted in Jamrud areas of Khyber Agency. Pak-afghan road was remained closed for hours while it was reopened after search operation was ended, official said.
Thousands of heavy trucks loaded with different goods and passengers coaches were seen parked on the both sides of the roads.
