Polio worker killed in FATA gunmen attack

 FATA,PAKISTAN: A health worker was killed when unknown gunmen attacked a polio team in Ghundi area of Jamrud tehsil in Khyber Agency, one of the seven tribal agencies in Pakistan,local sources said on Wednesday.
The sources said that unknown gunmen,who were said to be well-equipped with the sophisticated weapons, attacked polio team when they were busy  polio vaccination campaign in Ghundi village in Jamrud tehsil.
Assistant Political Agent of Jamrud subdivision Ziaur rehman termed the incident as brutal attack carried out to sabotage anti-polio campaign in Khyber Agency. 

He told this scribe that they were committed to administer polio drops to the 0.2 million targeted children in Khyber Agency. He said they did not postpone polio drive after the incident amid dispatched extra security contingents to the risky areas to ensure fullfleged security of polio workers.

Officials said a health worker, identified as Fazl-e-Amin sustained several bullet injuries in the attack. He was rushed to the hospitals in Peshawar but he breathed his last on the way before reaching to hospital.

Soon after the attack the security forces reached the incident spot and cordoned off the locality. They conduct search operation to trace the culprits in Ghundi locality of Jamrud tehisl. He said 16 persons  so far arrested on the basis of suspicion and shifted to unknown location for interrogation.
