LANDIKOTAL: Director Sports Fata with collaboration of Khyber Agency administration organized a week-long sports Gala in Landikotal on Monday.
A colorful opening ceremony was held at Landikotal sports complex which was attended by a large number of government-run schools students,sports lovers and officials of the education department.
Doctor Hanifullah Wazir, Pricipal of Shaheed Centennial Model high school was chief guest at the ceremony.
Different games including football, cricket, volleyball, hockey and athletics matches would be played between thirteen state schools’ players in Landikotal. The players were dressed in colorful uniform who marched passed at the Landikotal sports complex ground.
Addressing on the occasion, doctor Hanifullah said that sports was necessary for quality of education. He congratulated the organizers for initiating a healthy activity that would help promote long-lasting peace in the area. He said reviving sports and cultural activities would create opportunities so that youth could get their jobs to shine across the world.
Games Secretary Haji Bahadar Khan urged owners of the private educational institutions to arrange sports among their students. He said it was a good sign that after one decade a sports event was being organized in the militancy hit area of Khyber Agency.
A welcome football match was also played between the government Amar Shaheed Centennial High School and Abdul Ghafoor Khan Killay School.
