LANDIKOTAL: The Pakistani authorities at Torkham border refused entry of those North Waziristan Agencies’ displaced persons who had been shifted to Afghanistan few years ago due to militancy and military operations in their hometowns in Fata, sources said on Sunday.
The sources said that few persons from North Waziristan were not allowed to enter Pakistan via Torkham border. He said Pakistani border authorities asked them to enter North Waziristan agency via Ghulam Khan border, however, reasons behind banning their entry via Torkham border could not be ascertained.
Three days ago, the sources confirmed, around sixty displaced persons from North Waziristan had also wanted to enter Pakistan but officials at Torkham border did not allow them.
“They were around sixty persons including women and children the other day waited for the whole day on the Afghan side of the border but went back to Afghanistan as they were not permitted to cross the Torkham border”, said an official to The News on the condition of anonymity. He said they had been directed from the upper ranks to send the South Waziristan displaced persons back to Afghanistan, asking them to use Ghulam Khan border route for their return.
This scribe insisted and asked the official for the reason behind not permitting the Pakistani displaced persons but he said they had to obey the orders of their high ups.
Last week several families of South Waziristan had entered Pakistan via Torkham border after peace was restored in their hometown.
It may be mentioned here that around three thousand people displaced from Waziristan tribal agency had been residing in the various areas of Afghanistan, now passionate to return to their homes.
This correspondent also tried to contact and take version of other civil and FC officials but to no avail.
