Walk to raise awareness about Narcotics,drugs addiction held in Landikotal

KHYBER AGENCY(FATA): Launching a full fledged anti-narcotics campaign, Khyber Youth Forum(KYF)on Sunday organized a walk in Landikotal bazaar to bring about awareness among youth and those who had been addicted of different kinds of drugs in Khyber Agency.  

The walk was largely participated by a good number of Khyber Youth Forum activists,civil society members, students and political leaders who marched in Landikotal bazaar and gathered outside of the Landikotal press club.

They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against smoking and dealing in narcotics. The activists through their written slogans urged the government to take stern actions against those who were involved in smuggling of different kinds of narcotics.

Speaking on the occasion, president KYF Amir Khan Afridi said that they have noticed that the numbers of drugs addicted persons have gradually been increased in Khyber Agency. He said that narcotics were also prohibited in Islam as they have decided to launch a full-fledged campaign against sale and purchase of different kinds of narcotics.

Amir said dealing of Heroin,Hashish and now "Ice",the newly introduced lethal kind of drugs are taking place in Landikotal, Jamrud and Bara subdivisions in Khyber Agency. He urged the authorities to join hands with them and fight against these social evils.

General Secretary, Bakht Ali Shah said that they have chalked out a plan through which they would organize seminars, debates and dialogues in Hujras(male guests house),schools and in Mosques of various areas in Khyber Agency.
He said aim of their different activities to educate every individuals of the bad affects narcotics over the whole society.


Shah said Heroin drug had been replaced by Ice drug (crystal drug) which mostly taking by rich class and educated persons as fashion. He said they were predicting an alarming situation in the area as the numbers of Ice smokers and other drug addicted persons have crossed the figure of 12,00 in Khyber Agency.
Extended their full support to the border authorities and local administration the speakers urged the government to impose complete ban over sale and purchase on all kinds of drugs in Khyber Agency.
