Two most wanted miscreants flee from Khyber levies lock up


LANDIKOTAL : Two prisoners escaped from the heavily guarded levies compound in Shah Kas while on the other hand the security forces rounded up seven suspects during a search operation in Jamrud tehils in Khyber Agency,sources said on Tuesday.
The sources said that the two prisoners who were under trial mysteriously escaped from the lock up situated in the Khyber Agency's Levies headquarters in Shah Kas area of Jamrud.Those slipped were identified as Shaji son of Haji,resident of Qambarkhel Bara tehsil while Bilal son of Shafiq was the resident of Mansihra. It said to be most wanted militants arrested by the security forces some time ago.

When this correspondent contacted the concerned quarters only said that one of the two persons was a drug addict and the other was arrested in a fraud case.

Officials said that they have started investigations after suspending and held for questioning some of the khasadars and levies personnel for negligence from their official responsibilities. Independent sources said that one of the two prisoner was in Landikotal lock who was shifted to Shah Kas Levies centre a few months ago.

Meanwhile security forces conducted search and clearance operation in Jamrud and arrested at least seven suspect men including an Afghan national. The arrested men included Wali Muhammad,  Meena Zar, Shaheen, Gul Mat, Abdur Rehman, Umar Hayat belonging to Katiyakhel tribe of Kukikhel and Afghan national Sarfaraz.

The arrested persons were shifted to Pump House cell in Jamrud locality for further interrogation. 

Meanwhile,khasadars recovered 67 kilograms of hasheesh from a warehouse in Wazir Dhand area of Jamrud and arrested four men allegedly involved in narcotics business. 

A Kukikhel jirga had only on Monday imposed a ban on narcotics business in Jamrud tehsil and announced imposition of a heavy ban on those violating the ban
