LANDIKOTAL: Fata sports officials and hundreds of the government-run schools students and players staged token strike against PA Khyber for not attending the Fata Sport Festival's closing ceremony held in Jamrud on Saturday.
Fata Gymnastics association president,Miraj Afridi and Fata Gymnastics instructor Beradar Zaman told reporters that they had invited political Agent of Khyber Agency,Sayed Shahab Ali Shah,to attend the closing ceremony of a monthlong sports event conducted between all government-run schools.They said it was a tragic moment for them that hundreds of schools children and players were waiting to receive appriciation from the official but he ignored.
Miraj said it shocked him that PA Khyber came to Jamrud and inaugurated a cricket tournament while ignored Fata sports festival closing ceremony held at the same locality in Jamrud tehsil.He said PA Khyber distributed expensive mobile cell phones sets among local Maliks but not bothered to say a few words for the talented sports players waiting him only 200 yards away from him.
He said some of the local influentials people have controlled PA Khyber to divert his attention from the corruption taking place in Khyber Agency.
On the condition of anonymity,a an elder said that a political muharer(clerical staff)in Jamrud was doing job as sport president,as Malik and an employee of Khyber administration. He said Khyber Agency PA was not interested in promotion sports the area.
The Fata Sports Festival was started from 5 to 25 November in Jamrud Higher Secondary School in Jamrud where Cricket,Waliball,Basketball,
Meanwhile, Jamat-e-Islami leaders condemned the inefficient role of PA Khyber which caused deep rooting the evil of corruption in the offices.They protested that slow pace of the construction work on Pak-Afghan highway.
FATA JI Naib Amir,Zarnoor Afridi,said they hold several meetings with the Frontier Works Organization officials to expedite the work as the rising dust from the construction work had put hundreds of lives in risk.He said dozens of local people living near to the underconstructed road were affected by lethal skin and stomach diseases.
Zarnoor Afridi said PA Khyber was busy in collecting illicit money from beneficial check posts while spending nothing on the welfare and development of the area.
Condemning the hours long power outage in the area, Zarnoor said their women were compelled to fetch water on their heads from way off areas.
Zarnoor demanded of the governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan to take notice of the slow pace of road construction and the corruption in Khyber House.
It may be added here that JI and collage students of Landikotal degree collage had staged their separate protests against the officials.
