FDMA chief says 9300 more families displaced from Khyber




PESHAWAR: Newly appointed female Director General(DG) Fata  Disaster Management Authority (FDMA), Anila Durrani, has said that at least 9300 more families out of 63,000 have been displaced during ongoing military operation launched in October last month in Bara and Tirah valley of Khyber Agency.
Anila Durrani was speaking to a press briefing she conducted on Tuesday at her office to urge the media men and other concern authorities to dispatch message for help and coordination of other governmental and non-profitable organizations.
Anila said she feel the miseries being faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Bara  and other Fata areas and added that when she was appointed as director General FDMA she called on a meeting to ensure the best possible cooperation with media men and  other government departments. She said thousands of people including women and children have left their hometowns as a full-fledged military operation  “Khyber-1” was launched in October last month. The FDMA top official said a summary uniform IDPs status has already been put up to Fata secretariat so that they could get approval of it from the governor Khyber Pakhtukhawa.She said after the approval of the uniform status they would treat Khyber IDPs as they were doing with other Fata displaced persons.  She said Khyber IDPs would soon receive the packages  Rs,12,000 per month as a compensation of house allowance.
Director General, FDMA, has sought imperative suggestions with regard to displaced persons from tribal journalists and vowed to take practical steps towards hardships of them. She said around 63300 families have been dislocated from Bara in which 9,200 families have newly been enlisted while the rest had already been registered. She claimed that the newly enlisted families data is sent to World Food Program (WFP), who would soon provide all facilities to  the displace persons living in camps.
Explaining the purpose of media briefing, she said it would fill the vacuum between media and FDMA to enhance mutual coordination for the wellbeing of IDPs. “Media should highlight our evils while it should also promote our positive steps”, Anila remarked and said that misunderstanding and lack of communications had caused rift between the latters. She appealed the displaced persons of Bara to instantly reach to the enlisting centres being set up at various points.
“Our function is only to facilitate the other government and non-government organization and provide only transportation, food items and others facilities to IDPs,” she mentioned.
To a question, said that they have informed the Khyber Agency  political agent, Fata secretariat and other law encforcing agencies to establish enlisting centers for the displaced persons.

It may be mentioned here that Anila Durani is the first female director general of FDMA in the history of FATA
