Afghan authorities closed Torkham border against the constructions near the border

LANDIKOTAL: Opposing the construction of shops and the expected construction of other buildings on the Pakistani side of the Torkham border, the Afghan border authorities as a protest  closed the Torkham border for thirty minutes against the construction,official said on Saturday.

Political Naib Tehsildar Passport,Nek Muhammad,who led the talks from Pakistani side, told The News by phone that a meeting was held with the Afghanistan border authorities headed by Afghan Commissioner Hijratullah.He said the meeting was held  at zero point at Torkham border which continued for half an hour.Nek Muhammad said Afghan government had objected over the construction of shops and other constructions of other offices at the dance of thirty yard near to the Torkham border gate.He  said Afghan border authorities protested against the forthcoming planned construction had closed the Torkham border for an hour to record their protest against the expected constructions on both sides of the road near the durand line.Nek Muhammad said he convinced the Afghan officials that he would formally inform high ups to peacefully resolved the issue.He said both sides agreed that the matter of construction of buildings would be discussed at high level and would be informed each other of their decisions.
After the assurance of Pakistani officials the  Afghan border security forces reopened the Torkham border and allowed the hundreds of vehicles and pedestrians standard across the border for an hour.
