LANDIKOTAL: Torkham
border authorities claimed to have foiled bids to smuggle heroin and arms from
Afghanistan and arrested the drugs peddler, official sources said on Monday.
During routine checking at Torkham border, sources said, the
Khasadar force personnel recovered six kilogram of heroin from the possession
of an Afghan national identified as Hijrat, resident of Khugyani district of
Ningrahar. The heroin was concealed in Ghee packs which were being smuggled
from Afghanistan to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Khasadar force personnel at Torkham border seized
a foreign-made pistol (Mecarove) from an Afghan national who was currently serving
as district judge in Marco district of Ningrahar province in Afghanistan. The
arrested Afghan judge was later bailed on his personal guarantee while seized
the pistol, sources said.
