Heroin, arms seized at Torkham border



LANDIKOTAL:   Torkham border authorities claimed to have foiled bids to smuggle heroin and arms from Afghanistan and arrested the drugs peddler, official sources said on Monday.
During routine checking at Torkham border, sources said, the Khasadar force personnel recovered six kilogram of heroin from the possession of an Afghan national identified as Hijrat, resident of Khugyani district of Ningrahar. The heroin was concealed in Ghee packs which were being smuggled from Afghanistan to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Khasadar force personnel at Torkham border seized a foreign-made pistol (Mecarove) from an Afghan national who was currently serving as district judge in Marco district of Ningrahar province in Afghanistan. The arrested Afghan judge was later bailed on his personal guarantee while seized the pistol, sources said.
