Japan funds 63 projects in Khyber


LANDIKOTAL: The government of Japan has released rupees 100 million which would be spent on 63 developmental small sizes of projects in Khyber Agency, officials said on Friday.

Mustafa Nazir, UNDP communication officer and Refugee Affected and Hosting Areas(Raha) Khyber Agency social section head, Rahat Shinwari, told this scribe that after a series  of meetings with Fata secretariat officials, local elders and donor they have approved 63 small projects. They said that Japan had released rupees 100 million for 63 selected projects which would be implemented in the different areas of Khyber Agency. Rahat said that all the homework and official formalities for the implementation of the projects have been already completed and sites selection was made with the help of Fata secretariat and Khyber Agency officials.
Mustafa Nazir said in the 63 approved projects,  six protections
walls, 20 solar systems and one each stream water supply and street pavement would be constructed in Jamrud subdivision of Khyber Agency, while in Landikotal they have approved six protection walls, eight solar systems, three stream water projects and a street pavement.
Mustafa said they would also do six each protection walls and solar systems and two stream water projects in Molagori area of Jamrud Khyber Agency.
Rahat Shinwari said they would start work on the selected projects in the coming days. He said Raha, Fata national projects director, Yousuf Rahim, has already given approval of the projects and prepared schedule for it.
The officials said that after the completion of the projects people of the targeted areas would be able to have access to clean drinking water at their doorsteps and their agriculture land would be protected from the flash floods devastation. Local people and officials of the Khyber Agency administration assured them full support for the smooth implementation of the projects.
