PESHAWAR: The Refugee Affected and Hosting Areas (RAHA), Fata chapter and government of Japan jointly organized a managers' conference on Friday to make workplan for rehabilitation of affected areas and strengthening communication with the tribal people. The conference was attended by 52 managers of 26 rural organizations in Khyber Agency,Fata Secretariat and UNDP officials.
Faisal Anwar, Programme Manager Fata Secretariat, asked the managers of rural organizations to expedite their activities in Khyber Agency and establish committees at village level. He said it was not possible to bring development and prosperity in Fata without the cooperation and coordination of the local people and the civil organizations established for the collective efforts. He assured the participants that all development projects would be implemented in Fata on the basis of merit.
Faisal Anwar said funds provided by Japan to Fata Secretariat would be spent in the tribal areas to resolve the problem of portable water, installation of solar panels and flood protections walls. He said that Fata Secretariat would also launch a scheme in Fata for giving loans for agricultural purposes.
Dr Shafiq Afridi, president of 26 rural organizations from Landikotal, Mullagori and Jamrud tehsils of Khyber Agency, assured support to the initiative and said RAHA projects would be a milestone for sustainable development in Khyber Agency. He felt RAHA's 12 skills programmes for around 500 jobless tribesmen would help eradicate poverty from militancy affected areas and create business opportunities.
RAHA Infrastructure Development Officer, Arif Rauf, Social Section head, Rahat Shinwari and UNDP Media and Communication Officer, Mustafa Nazir also addressed the conference. . -----------
