Bazaar Union demanded withholding of sweepers’ salaries


LANDIKOTAL: The bazaar traders’ union Monday demanded forthwith withholding of 15 sweepers’ salaries who were doing their private jobs inside Afghanistan but drawing their salaries from the   Pakistani treasury.
Speaking at a  press conference here the Landikotal bazaar Union designators alleged that at least 15 christens who were employed by the government of Pakistan for the bazaar’s streets and buildings but were doing their private jobs in Afghanistan.
President Landikotal bazaar union, Lal Rahim Shinwari, said that they have made several complaints to the local administration to address their problems but to no avail. He said that it was on the record that  15 sweepers, who were on the government payroll, performing their private jobs at Afghan customs, passport offices and other officials apartments in the Afghan side of the Torkham. He alleged that some of the officials have their shares in the double salaries of the 15 sweepers as they were given free hand for private job.  Shinwari said that officials promised them on many times for the provision of clean drinking water at market level but so far not materialized it.
General Secretary, Qari Mussarat Shinwari, said that administration was claiming for renovation of bazaar streets pavements and other decoration but situation was still deteriorated. However, he said that the Pak-Afghan road leads from the bazaar was reconstructed which was a good development.
Qari said that they were cooperating the officials and always keep in touch with them for the betterment of the bazaar. They requested the KPK governor and political agent Khyber take serious action against those government sweepers who were doing their private jobs inside Afghanistan.
