Hamdarad organized free medical camp for children,women in Regilalma


PESHAWAR: Hamdard Welfare Organization (HWO) conducted a day long free medical camp in Regilalma, the bordering area with Khyber agency in Peshawar on Tuesday.

The medical camp funded by a renowned philanthropist, haji Asad Khan, was organized by a non-governmental organization, Hamdard Welfare Organization (HWO) in the Regilalma village.
Five hundred and sixty-three patients including two hundred children were provided free medicines and free consultation. Besides free medicines provided to the people, a large number of children were also immunized with the polio drops in the camp. Twenty-seven patients with severe fatal diseases were referred to Hayatabad Medical Complex, Khyber Teaching Hospital and Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.

Dr Tahir Khan, who was chief doctor at the camp, said that cold and dry winter season caused chest and lungs related diseases among the children especially under the age of five. He said that if the chest related diseases not controlled at the first stage it could cause fatal disease like Asthma and lungs Tuberculosis (TB). Dr Tahir Khan urged the parents to help the polio teams and officials and immunize polio drops to all the children. The time has gone, Dr Tahir Khan further said, that people were afraid of polio drops. Ninety percent of people in rural areas had no awareness about its importance but now the time has proven that those who had refused to immunize their children suffered. He said that nine persons who had lungs and blood TB were referred while several children were diagnosed with asthma. 
Lady doctor Fahmida said that most of the women visited the camp had blood diffusion and chest infection. She said that most of the children were malnutritioned as their parents had no awareness about the balanced foods. She said that TB was found in sixteen women who were reoffered to Peshawar hospitals. 
Dr, Pervez Shinwari said that most of the children under the age of seven had abdominal, dhyaria and cough problems.

Meanwhile, a score of local elders and media men visited the camp and inspected the free medical camp. Talking to reporters haji Asad Khan thanked the organization(HWO) on conduction of a successive camp.He promised with the organization that he will give further funds for this kinds of humanitarian activities. Local people thanked HWO assured for any possible moral and social support in future.
