EQ victims demanded fair survey





LANDIKOTAL: Earthquake victims on Monday appealed from the governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to direct the Khyber Agency administration to conducted a fair survey of quake losses as hundreds of homes and boundary-walls were missed in the first survey.

Talking to The News Zulqarnain Shinwari said that his 16 yards home's boundary wall was destroyed in the last quake. He said he filed his application along with the several photographs of the collapsed wall to the Assistant Political Agent,Nasir Khan and political Naib Tehsildar Ahmad Faraz Landikotal but to no avail. Zulqarnain said dozens of other poor earthquake victim families were not registered for compensation. Shinwari said that he was the lone breed winner of his family and was not able to rebuild his home boundary wall.

another resident Alamgir Afridi accused that dozens of local Maliks and other influential had put their near and dears names in the survey lists while those who really deserve were missed. He said despite the Prime Minster order to pay the compensation amount to the quake victims the cheques distribution processed could not be started yet. He said that many damaged boundary walls owned by the relatives of political leaders and workers of MNA were issued compensation tokens while those who had no approach were deprived to get help from FDMA.

Isral Shinwari, PML-N Landikotal appealed from the governor and Fata Disaster Management authority to reject the survey conducted under the supervision of local administration and reschedule a fresh and fair survey.

This scribe made several attempts to take version of APA Landikotal and survey team leader Tehsildar Ahmad Faraz but they did not responded to phone calls and text messages,however, FDMA operational and relief director Adil Zahoor was contacted said they could not be held responsible for the irregularities happened in the earthquake survery. He said they had relied on political administration and whatever the list they would receive would issue them the compensation amount. He said Rs0.6 million for the dead,seriously EQ injured would be paid Rs 0.2 mllion while those who received minor injuries in the last earthquake would receive Rs0.1 million.
