TORKHAM BORDER:
Newly appointed passport officer cum-political tehsildar, Nek
Muhammad, celebrate his posting and organized a musical night to celebrate his appointment at
Torkham border,sources said on Sunday.
A large
number of spectators both from Afghanistan and Pakistan including
political Muharrers,Khasadars and levies personnel were present on
Saturday night who enjoyed local and Afghan traditional songs.
A
group of instrumentalists was specially invited from Afghanistan who
received appriciation from the spectators and paid them a huge amount.
The
musical program was organized in Torkham servants' residential estate
where extra security arrangements were taken. Political Tehsildar Nek
Muhammad was chief guest on the occasion who enjoyed local and
traditional Afghani songs and dance(Athanr) presented by the musical
group.
Nek Muhammad had arranged the cultural
night to celebrate his appointment as passport cum-political tehsildar
at Torkham border.The guests were also honored with a dinner,the
sources said.
Local people and religious school
of thoughts on the other hand criticised such event organized by a
responsible officer.They said that Pakistan was passing through a
critical phase of history while political administration officers arrang
cultural parties which they said waste of time and money. They demanded
of the high ups to take serious notice as it would have create law and
order situation on the Pak-Afgan Torkham border if any untoward incident
happened during the musical night.
