LANDIKOTAL: Demanding for regularly conducting female sports events, girls students of different schools in Landikotal Wednesday said that their talent was going to waste due to unavailability of sports equipments and less opportunities in their local educational institutions.
Speaking at press conference here in Landikotal Osho and bedmenton players Jamaima Afridi,Gul Kash Afridi and Maryam Khan said they participated in national and international sports events in the past years.They said now the gone were the days when parents not allowing their daughters to participate in out door sports events.
The girls,who had hanged a banner behind them was inscribed with a slogan of Takra Qabaili Khwendy(Brave Tribal sisters), were hopeful to bring a major change in the man dominating society.
Jamaima Afridi,student of grade-12 said she play Osho Karate and want to bring gold for Pakistan in international games.
"Like male players tribal girls have talent to excell in all sports games but due to poor attention by the sports officials and departments failed to perform", said Jamaima Afridi.She said they several time requested their teachers at school and college level to facilitate them but to no avail. Afridi said a good number of girls students in all schools were eager to participate in sports events but they had no option to kill their talent because of the government ignorance.
Gul Kash Afridi said in Landikotal every year several mega sports events are being conducted for males but none of the organizers and sports officials have yet bothered to bring up the girls who want to earn a good name for Pakistan.
She said Fata officials were not intentionally paying their attention towards female sports games as to use the allocated budget on their own wasted interests.
Gul said they have no sports teachers for girls in schools that also minimized sports opportunities.
The girls students said that after various attempts to bring into teachers and sports officials notice they decided to raise voice through media and also thinking to arrange a walk in Lamdikotal soon if their voice was not heard.
