TORKHAM BORDER: After delegating Federal
Investigation Agency’s (FIA) powers to political administration last month, the
Khyber Agency administration on Wednesday established a Khasadars’ check point at
the distance of five hundred meters from Torkham border crossing, officials
said.
Political Tehsildar Torkham Shamsul Islam
told The News that on the directives of high ups they deployed Khasadars at
various localities in Torkham border town. He said they also established a
check point on the main road and installed barricade on it so that traffic flow
could be maintained properly. He said today’s onward private taxi cabs and
heavy vehicles would not be allowed to cross the newly established Khasadar’s
check point. Shams however said that only
trucks carrying import goods would be allowed to cross the established check
point. He said all other heavy and light
vehicles would use the alternate Khuwar road for border crossing.
It may be added here that Federal government had
designated FIA act to political administration last month and asked the local
authority and maintain passengers’ documentation at Torkham border.
