TORKHAM BORDER: 80 million rupees gold seized at Torkham borde

TORKHAM BORDER:  The Torkham authorities have arrested three smugglers after they recovered billions of rupees worth gold slabs from a truck entered Pakistan from Afghanistan, officials said on Thursday.
Political Tehsildar Torkham Shamsul Islam told The News that Torkham gate commanders Shakeel Khan Afridi and Khayal Muhammad stopped an empty truck(KBL-76334) at Torkham border and recovered 14 Kilgram of gold slabs from the secrete cavities of the truck.
 He said that truck was on way back from Afghanistan via Torkham border. He said the driver identified as Wanab Gul,his crew members  Noorzada and Wakeel, residents of Afghanistan were arrested and sent them to Landikotal luck up for further investigation. He said worth of the seized gold is in 80 million rupees in the open market.
It may be mentioned here that during the last one week it was the fourth big seizer of the Torkham border authorities. Earlier, they have seized millions of foreign currency and other contraband items in the last few days.
