LANDIKOTAL:
On the special directives of the high ups, the Landikotal officials
conduct raids on foods and butchers shops in Landikotal and Torkham
bazaars and arrested dozens profiteers, officials said on Sunday.
Political Naib Tehsildar Irshad Mohmand told reporters that on the special directives of the assistant political Agent of Landikotal,Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah, they have started regular raids on the shops located in Landikotal and Torkham bazaaar to control price hikes and quality of foods .He said during the last two days they conducted several raids on the shops selling different commodities including butchers shops. He said they checked quality and quantity of the foods being sale during the holy month of Ramazan.
Irshad said they arrested fifteen shopkeepers in Landikotal bazaar while nine profiteers from Torkham border bazaar. He said the arrested shopkeepers were charging extra amount from the buyers and had violated the prices set by the bazaar committee constituted to insure lower prices in Landikotal.
The official said most of the arrested were selling low quality and unhygienic foods which had caused many stomach skin diseases. He said that all the arrested shopkeepers were sent to lock up and fine was also imposed on them.
