Student among four killed in Landikotal incidents



LANDIKOTAL: Four persons, including college student, were killed while six others injured in two separate tragic incidents took place in Landikotal areas of Khyber Agency, officials said on Monday. 

In the first incident, assistant Political Agent of Landikotal Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah told this scribe that two Afridi groups traded gun fire over the installation of a cabin-shop in Sheikhwal area of Landikotal. 

Tayyab said two families had created differences over a small piece of land situated on the bank of Pak-Afghan road and they exchange harsh word. He said the rival parties' members scuffled which led to an exchange of gun fire on each other. He said three persons from both sides were killed on the spot while three others critically injured.
Those killed were identified as Abaadkhel, Sher Zaman, and Gul Wali while Hakeem, Asfandyar and Saddiq sustained wounds in the incident. The injured persons were rushed to Hayatabad Medical Complex where doctors stated them in critical condition.
As the incident occurred, sources said, Khasadars and Levies personnel rushed to the site and controlled the area. They also placed truce (Tigga) for three months and imposed fine of Rs 5 million if any of the rival group violated.  APA Tayyab said under the FCR section they would also arrest of few persons from both sides after the funeral ceremonies today (Tuesday).
Meanwhile, in the second tragic incident a student of Landikotal degree collage was killed and two others seriously injured when two students groups scuffled over the study-tour a mount distribution, officials sources said.
The sources said that two students groups in Landikotal degree collage scuffled with each other and smashed several students with sharp knives. APA Tayytab confirmed the incident and said a student identified as Basit Khan Son Pervez of Pirokhel village was stabbed with a dagger in chest by another students.

He said two other students Waleed and Fazle Haq were also injured during hand-to-hand quarrel between the students. The official said the injured students were rushed to Agency headquarters hospital in Landikotal but Basit breathed his last before reaching to the hospital.

Some close relatives of the slain student said that Basit was a best cricket player and married five months. Eleven alleged students were arrested and sent to Landikotal Lockup for investigation. 
The Landikotal collage was closed two months ago for winter vacations.
It may be added here that another same kind of incident had happened few years ago which also had claimed the life of another student.

Political party leaders, civil society members in Landikotal have condemned the incidents and criticized the political administration of Landikotal for not providing security arrangements to the collage where students carry weapons during their classes.
