KHYBER AGENCY: World Food Program (WFP) in collaboration with Hujra
Organization (HO) distributed food package among 10,255 families
during last 10 months
,officials said on Friday.
WFP coordinator,Ahmad Ali and social organizer Kiramat Shinwari , said
that the food package of 80 kilogram of flour and 5-litre cocking oil
were given to the families in Landikotal, Khyber,Kam Shalman,Loey
Shalman, Pasedkhel,Bazaar Zakhakhel, Brag,Karamna and Alacha areas.
Kiramat Shinwari said the food were provided to the residents in two
categories aimed with "food for work and food for training". He said
the families being provided the food package participated actively in
cleaning their village drains,streets and debris from their
surroundings. The tribesmen also repaired their uncarpeted and earthen
roads and street pavements.
Shinwari said that in last three months Hujra Organization had
distributed food items among 10,255 families in Landikotal and trained
some 200 locals educated youth to decrease and mange risks during
natural disasters and a committee has also been constituted to provide
free services in natural disasters.
Local tribesmen and elders applauded the WFP welfare program and asked
the officials to extend it to the other far-flung areas of Khyber
Agency.
Talking media men Arfan Khan, Asad and Yasin Khan Shinwari appreciated
the welfare program and demanded the officials to carry on this
project which not only assist poor people but it would also prepare
the people to work voluntarily for the development of their society.
