Torkham border remains open on 9th,10th Ashura


TORKHAM BORDER: To avoid mishaps on 10th of Ashura, the Khyber Agency administration had beefed up security and sealed the Landikotal and Torkham bazaars, however, border was remained open all the day for movement, officials said on Friday.

Landikotal assistant political agent, Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah, told this scribe that due to security reasons and in respect to the 10th of Ashura day they had taken strict security steps in Landikotal. He said that Landikotal and Torkham bazaars were sealed to dispers people,however, Torkham border was kept open to compensate the legal passengers and heavy trucks movement across the border.

"Only patients,women,children,aged persons and those holding proper travel documents were allowed on the Torkham border to enter into Pakistan", said APA. Adding trucks with Nato consignments had been stranded on the border due to customs official holly days. He said that extra contingents of Khasadars and Levies personnel had been deployed at all entry and exits points to Landikotal bazaar.
