First Pakistani Christen from Landikotal selected for US scholarship







LANDIKOTAL :Northern Virginia Community Collage in the United States of America awarded a year long scholarship to a first-ever Fata christen youth hailing from Landikotal subdivision of Khyber Agency.  Sajid Masih,25, son of Ajaz Masih,resident of Landikotal tehsil was the first christen from Fata selected for international scholarship.Sajid had applied to the Community Collage Initiative Programme(CCIP) 2013-14 US exchange program.Total 882 applicants had processed their applications for the same scholarship across the Pakistan in which Sajid Masih was selected after a long process.  Sajid Masih in a exclusive interview before his departure to USA told The News  that all of his education,accomodation ,medical.tuition fee and travel costs would be paid by the State department of the United States of America.  According Sajid Masih and concern officials with the scholarship, Sajid Masih was the ever first christen from the minority community living in Fata who had been awarded any international scholarship in the history of Pakistan.  Sajid Masih said that the purpose of the scholarship is to buildup strong world by upholding the lower communities across the world, said Sajid. " This is a great opportunity for me being a christen to promote a soft image of my tribal people during my stay in the USA" Sajid Masih said. He said that he would be the student of Virginia Community Collage form July 2013 to May 2014, a year long stay and would be attending project management and Leadership classes throughout the year. Along with the course studies, he said, the aim of the scholarship is to promote and exchange of cultural and social ideas with the people of United States.  Sajid Masih has two sisters and four brothers of the poor christen  parents residing in a small mud-made house in Landikotal.Sajid had passed Matric exams from Army Public school in Landikotal in 2006.Sajid and got admission in Edwards collage Peshawar wherefrom he did FSc(pr-engineering) in 2008 and excelled in Higher National Diploma in business (HND- Business) in 2011. Sajid Masih was the first person in his family who was eager to seek education by any cost.He wanted to come out of the shell that his forefathers and his parents were doing the class-IV jobs in the past. Sajid's father,Ajaz Masih was retired as housekeeper from Frontier Corps(FC) while his mother is the lone bread earner sewing women cloths and embroidery at home to help his family. Sajid Masih said that when he complete his education in USA and return to Pakistan he would work for the whole humanity especially for the rights of the deprived people in Fata. Sajid Masih thanked to his mother and said that his mother was one of the strong women who was suffering from breast cancer but still she was earning for her children.Sajid also thanked US people, state department and his teachers  Ashrafuddin Pirzada and Sir David L Gosling for their social and moral support.
