LANDIKOTAL: Scores
of politicians, social workers and elders of Mulagori and Jamrud tehsils have asked
the Inspector General Frontier Crops (IGFC) and Governor KPK to take notice of
the misuse of the illegal tax taking from the smuggling trucks taking place from
and to Afghanistan via ghost routes in their area.
In this connection,
a meeting was held at Paindi Lalma Mulagori tehsil on Sunday which was attended
by large number of locals beside the social workers and local politicians.
Speaking on
the occasion, PML-N Khyber Agency General Secretary Ikramullah Jan Kukikhel,
said billion of rupees smuggling of the non-custom paid goods were taking place
under the nose of the political administration. He criticised the local
political Naib tehsildar Shakil for ignoring the residents’ problems and asked
the government to take notice of it.
Ikram said
that the money taking from the smuggling trucks were being distributed between
the pro-administration elders who were given the task to keep the poor people suppressed.
PML-N leader
said that every day at least 25 to 40 trucks loaded with the smuggling goods
including teabags, auto spare parts, fabrics , timber, dry milk, ghee, cooking
oil, China and Iranian cooked foods worth millions of rupees entering to Jamrud
and Mulagori tehsils without paying government tax which was a great loss for
the national exchequer.
He said that
despite the Khasadars’ check posts established on the ghost routs, some pro-administration
elders on the consent of officials have also established a check post at marble
Chowk in Mulagori where they take Rs, 800 bribe from each truck on the name of the local
committee. Adding and the money only goes to the pockets of the black-sheeps .
The smuggled
goods are usually shifted from Torkham border via Landikotal-Shalman-Mulagori ghost
routes and stored at godowns in Jamrud, Master said.
A social
activist and local elder, Hajj Gul, made responsible Political Naib Tehsildar
Mulargri for the deteriorated law and order situation in the area. He said that
Shakil was the strong supporter of smugglers and criminals who were challenging
the government writ. He said that it was on the record that shakil was sue by
the Peshawar high court many times for his secret connections with criminals.
“Whenever powerless
people of Paindi Lalma went to Shakil office for the resolution of their
problem he trashed them and used immoral language with them, not only that but
many times he put poor people behind the bars without doing a sin,”Gajj Gul
alleged.
Hajj Gul
asked Inspector General Frontier Crops (IGFC) and the government KPK to take
notice of the matters. He appeal the latters to issue immediate transfer orders of
the political Naib Tehsildar, Shakil, as he was involved in the criminal
activities in the area.
Nisar
Mulagori, who was running an NGO, said that Swat Scout, a wing in Frontier Crops
based in Mulagori, have made illegal electricity connections from their power supply
lines due to which they were suffering 22 hours load shedding in the area.
He said that
high officials of the Swat scout should cut off the illegal connections so that
they would have some electricity to run tube-wells in such scorching heat.
Nisar said Peshawar high court is imposed ban on all
permits and stand all permits to Afghanistan null and void in the holy month of
Ramazan but slaughtered animals were being smuggled with the help of Khyber
agency administration to Afghanistan in vehicles’ hidden cavities.
Haji Gul,
another local elders and social worker, said if their problems were not
resolved within a week they would go on strike against the local administration
as they were busy in collecting black money rather to address problems of the
local people.
Jamaat-i-Islami
leader, subedar(R) Subz Ali, threatened
that if their electricity was not restored and the
Shakil was not transferred soon they would call civil disobedience against
political administration in Mulagori and would block Jamrud-Mulagori road for
traffic.
When contacted
Khyber agency political agent, Mutahirzeb, replied with the mobile message
(SMS) that let him check it,while assistant political agent Jamrud, Bakhtyar,
and Shakil were not available for comments. However, another junior
administration official in Jamrud told This scribe while pleading anonymity that
it was a group of some black mailers who want to meet their own self interests.
