KHYBER AGENCY: The Sultankhel elders in Khyber have
threatened the government that if their electricitiy was not restored within
the three days would refuse to administer polio drops to their children in the
coming anti polio campaign.
After their meeting held
here on Thursday told reporters that all the tribesmen will launch protest
against injustice to them and will boycott the up-coming Polio compaign if
power was not restore to Sultankhel area of Landikotal tehsil.
Malik Abdullah khan, Malik Zarawar Khan, Mukaram Khan in of
Sultan tribe flanked by dozens of supporters said that electricity had been
completely cut off for the last fifteen days which had raised many problems in
the area. Malik Abdullah Khan said that due to power off all tube-wells were
remained un-functional and the tribal women were compelled to fetch potable
water from miles away streams on their heads to fulfill their needs.
Beside admitted several patients in Landikotal Headquarters hospital
other residents were being faced trouble, he said. All the health machineries were out of order as
electricity was suspended two weeks, Mukaram Khan said. Adding our children
were compelled to study in schools in scorching heat without fans, he lamented.
They blamed that TESCO officials had collected heavy bribe
and had suspended power constantly to Landikotal to make maximum flow of
electricity to the industries established in Shahkas areas of Jamrud tehsil.
The local administration had been appraised of their genuine
problem but no avail, they opined. They threatened the local administration and
TESCO officials that if their electricity would not restore in three days they
would refuse to feed polio drops to their children.
