Parents urged to send children to schools

LANDIKOTAL: A notification sent by the federal government has directed the Fata secretariat to compel parents by any means to send their children to schools, Additional political agent said on Tuesday.

Additional political agent Khyber agency, Said Ahmad Jan in this regard called on a meeting of education and administration officials at Jamrud administration office. The meeting was also attended by the local religious leaders and education officer, Muhammad Ashraf, assistant education officer female, Zahida Bibi and local reporters and officials.

Speaking to the meeting, the Add,PA  Said Ahmad Jan, said that they will soon start door to door campaign to promote new education policy. According to the new education policy,he said, parents would be awarded exemplary punishment and fine when they violate. He said that they were in contact with the local elders and members of the civil society to propagate the positive aspect of the education policy.
Jan said that the policy will focus on the children especially the girl children of five to ten years of age who had abandoned education. However, he said that those who refuse and not sent children to schools would be punished by imposing fines and sending them to jails.  

Education officer, Muhammad Ashraf, said that a meeting of religious leaders, local elders, Maliks and parents is due next meeting where they will final the strategy for the new education policy.
The participants appreciated the new government education policy said that hundreds of children including girls had abandoned education due to poor education system and lake of facilities at the girls’ schools. Add, PA vowed that political administration will help the education department and will give sanctions of two more rooms and two extra teachers to the primary
