14 Zakhakhel volunteers killed in Landikotal explosion

LANDIKOTAL: At least fourteen volunteers of Zakhakhel peace Lashkar were killed and six others injured when a bomb planted in a post exploded in Satani Sangar area of Landikotal tehsil in Khyber Agency, official and tribal sources said on Sunday.

The sources said that Satani Sangar post had taken back from the Lashkar-e-Islam’s gunmen last night after a fierce fight. “The LI fitted explosives in the Satani Sangar post went off when Zakhakhel tribe volunteers entered into the post. Fourteen persons were killed on the spot while six others were injured”,Habib Khan told The News on phone from Bazaar Zakhakhel. He said that several others were also injured who were rushed to hospitals in Landikotal and Peshawar.

Meanwhile, three LI gunmen identified as the sons of Police Khan, Habib and Naorang Afridi were also killed in fight with Zakhakhel Lashkar in Bazaar Zakhakhel, the sources said.

Meanwhile, three persons of the same family including a girl child were killed and six others injured when two mortar shells hit houses in Tirah valley, local sources said. All the injured and killed persons were from the Zakhakhel tribe, sources said. Rozaddin, Gula Khan and Ibrar were among those killed in different incidents in Tirah valley while the injured were identified as Shafiq, Sohail,Arif,Ishfaq and Sayed Khan and Shoaib, however, other names of the injured and killed persons could not be ascertained due to inaccessibility and poor communication system in Tirah valley.
