LANDIKOTAL: A senior tribal journalist Ashrafuddin Pirzada and daily The News Landikotal correspondent continued his hunger strike on the third day in Landikotal.
Ashrafuddin Pirzada,correspondent daily The News,set at the front of Landikotal press club on Friday and chanted slogans to force the officials of Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) and Alfred Friendly Fellowship Program(AFPF) to revise their decision taken in the favor of a reporter who did not seen a conflict area and never been the member of any press club in conflict zones in Pakistan. He said that his right was snatched by those approachable officials from him and given to a un-qualified NGO worker. Ashrafuddin Pirzada while reminding said that a criteria was set for the proper selection of two conflict reporters for the scholarships but Adnan Rashid, who is working for an non-governmental organization(NGO)Raabta consultant, approached and made his selection possible. He demanded of the IFUJ, PFUJ and other world journalism related organization to come forward and give him justice. A large number of tribal journalists also took part in the hunger strike to show solidarity and unity in this regard. They warned that if AFPF and PPF not take back their false and one-sided decision they will stage a protest demonstration at the front of Governor House Peshawar and at the front of Parliament House Islamabad. According to the criteria the journalist should have residence and must be base there where from he report militancy related news.The selection process was continue for the last three months started in November when 15 journalists were invited for a week training. He said that he was according to criteria only conflict reporters were illigable to avail the scholarship.He urged the world journalists forums and organizations to come forward and take seious notice of the exploitation of the tribal journalists.
Ashrafuddin Pirzada threatened that if his matter not been resolved within a week he will stage protest in islamabad.
