LANDIKOTAL: Twelve militants among commander of Tehrik-e-Taliban Tariq group and a Frontier Crops solider were killed when security forces raided a house in Karamna area of Landikotal tehsil, official sources said on Sunday.
The sources said that the security forces while taking action on a tip off raided the house of Alamgir Afridi and Gul Mat Afridi in Karamna village where several TTP militants of Tariq group were residing.
The militants exchanged extensive fire on the raiding security personnel which was retaliated for around three hours, sources said. Tariq group commander, Qari Kamran and eleven others militants, whose names were not disclosed to the media, were killed while four suspected children and three women were arrested alive, an official told The News on phone. One FC soldier was also killed in the clash while two others sustained bullets injuries, FC media cell told The News.
Meanwhile, FC forces also monitored the Karamna area and surroundings through helicopters to block the TTP movement during the armed action in Karamna, the official said. The dead bodies of the militants have been shifted to Landikotal army garrison, the official said.
