Polio staff recruitment protested,favored in Landikotal


LANDIKOTAL: After the protest held on Thursday against the polio recruitment, a score of those local residents hired as polio workers and supervisors Friday conduct rally in Landikotal bazaar to legitimize the interviews conducted by Chip Training and Consultant(CTC) officials.

Polio area supervisor, Alif Gul Shinwari, led the rally marched in Landikotal bazaar and chanted slogans in favor of UNICEF and CTC officials. They were holding placards with the words legimizing the polio workers and supervisors hiring.

Speaking on the occasion, Alif Gul Shinwari, said CTC officials had conducted free and fair interviews and hired qualified health staff for polio eradication campaigns. He alleged that those who were eniligable and failed to qualify the written exams and interviews want to sabotage the hiring. He all the recruited polio staff were qualified and the officials concerned had the authority to conduct verification of their documents.

Earlier, a large number of local residents and those who failed to get the job protested in Landikotal bazaar on Thursday. They asked the Political Agent of Khyber Agency and other high ups to conduct inquiry to probe the irregularities allegedly happened in the hiring process.

This correspondent when contacted the Khyber Agency political Agent,Khalid Mehmood, he said that they were looking into the matter. He said if necessary they would conducted official inquiry to investigate allegations raised against doctor Sher Amin who was responsible for the recruitment process. Khalid Mehmood said that they received many complaints against Chip NGO.

Agency surgeon doctor Niaz Afridi told The News that PA Khyber and Agency surgeon Khyber were not taken onboard in the hiring process. He said CHIP recruited 250 polio staff without the verification from Khyber Agency health department and the political Agent of Khyber.
