World literacy day observed in Fata


LANDIKOTAL: Marking the world literacy day, civil society and children of different schools conduct walk in Landikotal bazaar.
Hundreds of schools' children holding placards and banners with slogans attracting children to schools and importance of education.  Khwendo kor,a Non-Governmental Organization(NGO)led the walk in which children from five years to 16 years participated.
Speaking on the occasion,Education officer of Khwendo kor, Amir khan. said that they have launched long lasting awareness  campaign to insure 100 percent enrollment in the government-run schools.He said they were conducting walks  and seminars across Fata to motivate parents to send their children to schools.
He said that sixty government-run schools have been destroyed in militancy related incident which had abandoned thousands of children including girls to go schools. He demanded of the government to rebuild and rehabilitate the damaged and destroyed schools in Fata to save the future of the innocent children.
Khwendo kor NGO and Fata education department jointly running program Promoting Girls Education Initiative to increase literacy rate in girls Education.
