1000kg meat seized near Torkham border

LANDIKOTAL: Michni Khasadar force personnel have seized a bulk of meat being smuggled to Afghanistan,official sources said on Thursday.Muhammad Zaman,a Khasadar force subedar,told this scribe on phone that a Passengers'coach(E-2514) was stopped at Michni checkpost and recovered one ton(1000 kilograms)of meat being smuggled to Afghanistan.He said that the meat was concealed in hidden cavities of the coach. Driver of the coach identified as Sayed Pirzada,resident of Nowshehra, was apprehended and sent him to Landikotal lockup.It was the second attempt to smuggle slaughtered animals to Afghanistan during the current week.
It may be added here that after the Peshawar high court orders the Khyber Agency Political agent had issued strict directives to APA Landikotal  not to allow any kind of foods items including  smuggling cows,buffalos and meat to Afghanistan.
