LANDIKOTAL: A large number mini-coaches drivers and owners staged protest demonstration against the illegal chalan amount imposed by taxi stand contractors.
Shakirullah Afridi, the Union president, said that contractors of Karkhano,Haji Camp and Torkham taxi stands were overcharging the mini-coaches which was unlawful. Shakirullah Afridi threatened if the letters not stopped over charging the poor drivers they would be compelled to block the Pak-Afghan road. He said that government has fixed Rs100 as challan money but the constructors are charging them from 500 to 1000 rupees which direct suffer the passengers traveling in it. Another Union worker, Mazullah said that the contractors gave special turn to dozens of mini-coaches of their near and dears which further put effects on the passenger coaches of the others. He said that the current contractors have exceeded the registration amount from Rs, 1700 to 5,000 which he termed snatching bread from the mouth of their children. The Union workers demanded of the Khyber agency administration officials to intervene in the matter and stop them from the money they are collecting illegally.
