Child abduction: Pak-Afghan highway blocked in Landikotal

Ashrafuddin Pirzada LANDIKOTAL: Residents on Tuesday blocked the Peshawar-Torkham highway in Sultankhel to record their protest against the abduction of a child from Khyber Sultankhel village in Landikotal tehsil of district Khyber. The protesters were holding black flags and put heavy stones on the road at Sultankhel village halting traffic for several hours. They were demanding the arrest of the alleged kidnappers who had picked up a 10-year-old Muhammad Muhsin on Monday and later after fifteen hours he was dumped unconsciously at the front of his home with minor scartches on his body. According to the family members, the child was missing from his village when he went to a playground near to the Sultankhel village. They said he was searched but could not found and then informed the Landikotal police. They said the child in not yet completely recovered as he mental health exposed torture symptoms. Police officer Ayaz Khan said they have arrested a taxi driver and investigation started from him. Residents showed their fear and worried for their children due to the growing crimes in Landikotal. It may be added here that it was not the first untoward incident took place in Landikotal in the past few weeks. Several shops in Landikotal bazaar were also looted while thieves took away dozens of cows and goats from various villages in Landikotal but police yet not made no arrest in these caes.
