Four persons killed in rain related incidents in Khyber district

LANDIKOTAL: Four people including two minor girls were killed while five others injured in rain-related incidents in the recent spell of heavy down pour in Khyber district on Thursday.

Around 11am, the first incident happened in Bacha Mena border village at Torkham,when roof of a room caved in.  Two minor girls, Habsha and Kalsoom daughters Rahmatullah were, local people and officials said.Two women were also wounded in the incident.They were rushed to district Headquarters Hospital in Landikotal.

Soon after the incident local people reached the site and started rescue work.After long efforts they retrieved the bodies from debris, the sources said.

An administration official who visited the area told The News that the mud house was badly affected by the current spell of rain.

In another incident, two security forces personnel were killed and three others received injuries as roof of a room in a security check post caved in due to downpour in Tirah valley in Khyber district, the source said

The injured persons were rushed to hospitals in Peshawar for medico-legal formalities.

The name of the victims could not be ascertained till filing this report.

It is said that dozens of other homes in far flung Tirah,Loey Shalman and Samsay border localities were also damaged in heavy rain,flash floods and getting inches snow in the past two days.
