Border villagers stage protest at Torkham bazaar

LANDIKOTAL:The Pak-Afghan border Bacha Mena villagers on Tuesday held a protest demonstration to record their protest against alleged grabbing of their properties by National Logistic Cell(NLC) at Torkham locality.

Led by Israr Ahmad Shinwari and Zarqeeb Shinwari, a score of Nujawana-e-Khugakhel and Bacha Mena residents took part in the protest,holding black flags and placards and chanted slogans against NLC officials over the violation of the agreement that had been signed with Khugakhel tribe 2015.

The protesters marched in Torkham bazaar and gathered at the front of  NLC terminal.

Speaking on the occasion, Israr Ahmad Shinwari and Zarqeeeb Shinwari accused NLC of grabbing their land in Torkham. They said that NLC also occupying the Basic Health Unit(BHU) in Torkham which was an unlawful step of the department.

They said that due to NLC’s inadequate steps in Torkham, thousands of local people were deprived of their private jobs and businesses.  They reject all the decisions that have been made behind closed doors with few corrupt elders of the tribe, they maintained.

Regarding the demarcation of the land, they said that they want the original boundaries of the land to be cleared that had been mentioned in the agreement, made with Khugakhel tribe.

The protesters threatened that they would extend their protest if NLC officials were not stopped from their illegal activities at Torkham border.
