Peace committee chief gunned down in Peshawar

LANDIKOTAL: Unknown gunmen shot dead a peace committe head in Achini Khor in Sarband police locality and fled the scene,sources said on Saturday.

The sources said that one Mir Alam Khan Afridi was on his way to Bara when unknown motorcyclists opned indiscriminate firing on hi car and critically injured him.The assailants fled the scene after committing the heinous crime.The injured person was rushed to hospital but could not survived and breathed his last on the way to hospital.Police has registered a case against killers and started investigation.

It is said that ill fated Mir Alam was the Ameer of Bara peace committee locally known as Amn committee and had played an active role in peace restoration. Local residents told this scribe by phone that Mir Alam wanted peace in area and had played a major role in peace restoration in Bara tehsil of Khyber teibal district. He had also raised Lashkar(volunteers gurads)against the Lashkar-e-Islam militants group led by Mangal Bagh in Khyber tribal district.

Sources said Mir Alam had escaped to Dubai when Mangal Bagha(LI) had controled Bara before the major military operations carried out by Pakistan army against all kinds of anti state elements in Khyber Agency. Few years ago Mir Alam had also luckily survived an explosion took place nesr his property dealing office in Peshawar. He recently returned and had started work as peace keeper in his area.

It may be added here that target killing and attacks by different terrorists groups were rising in tribal areas near the border in the past few months in tribal areas and Khyber Pakhunkhwa.
Two journalists and many other citizens have lost their lives in the past few months in Khyber Pakhunkhwa in Pakistan.
