Christian students delegation visit Torkham border

LANDIKOTAL:On the eve of minorities national day a group of christians students from Peshawar visited Landikotal and Pak-Afghan border on Saturday.

They reached first Landikotal where they were warmly offered welcome. The group of around 40 Christians later drove to the last check point Michni check post where they received by commandant Khyber Rifles colonel Farrukh Humayun.Other  civil and military officials were also present on the occasion. 
They were briefed about the historical border with Afghanistan. Colonel Farrukh Humayun explained the current trade,security and security situation on the Torkham border.The official paid a ruch tribute to the martyred army,paramilitary troops personnel,levies and Khasadars who rendered sacrifices and restored peace at the cost of their lives. Col,Humayun said they salute to them who fought war for the stable and strong Pakistan.He said people from minorities were safe and have threat from their Muslim brothers,said the official.He added that the security forces and local residents were supporting minorities and participate with then in their religious and cultural events.
On the occasion,Christians students federation coordinator Giston Jakab thanked the officials and local residents for their close relation with the non-Muslims living in Khyber tribal district. He said they would jointly celebrate the Pakistan independence day along with their muslim brothers with great pump and show.
