Week-long cleanliness campaign kicks off in
Landikotal

KHYBER AGENCY(FATA): Local administration with the collaboration of
journalists, political parties and civil society members kicked off a week-long
cleanliness campaign to sit a healthy precedent and aware people about the
importance of clean and net atmosphere.
Dozens of local people, journalists, business community members,
religious and political parties’ leaders, civil society members and officials
participated in the opening of the campaign. They first arranged a walk in the
Landikotal bazaar and informed people about the importance of cleanliness at
the business and living places.
Political tehsildar Landikotal Shamsul Islam, Landikotal Line
Officer Hikmat Khan Afridi,Subedar Swalzar Khan Afridi, Landikotal Falahe
Tahzeem Chairman Akhtar Ali Shinwari and president haji Banaris Shinwari
jointly led the walk to collectively sit an example and encourage others to
come forward for such a noble cause.
Speaking on the occasion political tehsildar Landikotal Shamsul
Islam said that it was the moral and religious duty of everyone to keep their
living places clean. He said they want clean Pakistan as they launched their
Hafta-e-Safahi on the first day of 2018.
“The aim of the week-long cleanliness campaign is to bring
awareness among the local people and business community to keep their
surroundings clean and net”, said Shamsul Islam. He said the campaign was
started from January 1, and would be continued till January 8, 2018.
Shams said all the available sanitation staff of Landikotal would
be used in the seven days’ campaign. He said the Landikotal administration
would provide financial and logistic support to the staff and volunteers
working around the week.
The official said they have also decided to observe
Yaom-e-Safahi(cleanliness day) at the first day of every month which would help
make people’s habit to keep their places clean.
Landikotal Falahe Tanzeem Chairman Akhtar Ali Shinwari said in the
first two days they would conduct the campaign in the main Landikotal bazaar
and Agency Headquarters Hospital. He said they would remove debrises and
wastages from the rest of the public places.
He said Jaam-e-Masjid
(Mosques) bazaars, hospitals, administration offces, Torkham bazaar, Sultankhel
market and other private and public installations in Landikotal tehsil’s
jurisdiction would be cleaned.
Residents and civil society members appreciated officials and
journalists who initiated such important work that would help reduce different
viral diseases being generated from the wastages dumped around the public
places.
