Governor awards full education package to a Christian girl

LANDIKOTAL(FATA): Taking action on the report published in The News the other day, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan announced cash and other monthly education expeses of the Christian girl who secured first position in a state-run school in Landikotal tehsil of Khyber Agency.

Sarah Masih, 18, resident of Landikotal was talking to The News by phone that after her news was published in daily The News the governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa invited her. She said that  Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi met her at governor house today(Tuesday) and praised her efforts. Sarah Masih,who want to be first lady Christian doctor at her village in Landikotal, was awarded Rs, 50,000 cash and the governor directed education department to provided her other educational requirements. 

Yaqoob Masih, the father of Sarah Masih, thanked the Sardar Mehtab and especially “The News” and its staff for highlighting his daughter’s voice. Yqoob said he had no resources to get his daughter educated but now he would be called a father doctor. Yaqoob said that many other NGOs and phelanthropists have also contacted him and sent cash amounts for the education of his daughter.

 Yaqoob however lamented the deteriorated situation in the Girls Government Higher Secondary School where his daughter studied.He said that Assistant Agency Education Official Hastam Khan Afridi was informed about the teachers’ absenteeism. He said despite their written complaints he did not bother to take action those teachers taking salaries in homes. Yaqoob said that several times they requested AAEO Landikotal for physical inspection of the school but he was always busy in his own private school situated in Sultankhel area of Landikotal.
Meanwhile, SAWI also gave Rs, 30,000 to the Christian girl in Landikotal. Khalil Jabran, the Khyber News correspondent handed the amount to the girl in her school in Landikotal.
